Trusting Christ during COVID-19

The impact of COVID-19 is felt all over the world. At the time of writing this, almost one million cases have been confirmed worldwide with more than 200,000 of those in the United States. The numbers are rising quickly, and the temptation to live in fear is high.

We have faith in our heavenly Father's ability to protect and to heal, and we believe that our God is both sovereign and Lord over all that happens in this world. We also believe in being obedient to the word of God, and in an effort to be supportive and submissive to our government officials at this time (Romans 13), we decided to suspend all scheduled sessions and in-person team meetings until further notice.

During this time, all of our volunteers have been keeping each of our participants in our prayers, and we're being blessed to grow in trusting the Lord.

So what does it look like to trust Jesus in the midst of all of this? We continue in our individual and family worship using the online resources available to us. We log into our YouVersion app and do Bible studies together in that way. We also continue our own individual studies. When the media serves news that is disheartening or frightening, we press into the Lord and remind ourselves and one another of his promises.

He will not leave us or forsake us (Deut 31:6). When we hear of the number of people who have gotten COVID-19, we pray (James 5:14-15). When we and our loved ones get laid off of work and we see the mouths that need to be fed, we ask God to meet our needs because what good Father gives his child a stone when he asks for bread (Matt 7:7-11)? When we find ourselves missing the luxuries we had only weeks ago, we give thanks for what we do have and praise God for his provision (1 Thess 5:18).

We were created to be connected (Gen 2:18). We were created to be in intimate relationship with other human beings. Not through the lens of a camera and on the other side of a screen, but flesh to flesh, eye to eye.

While this season of stillness and separation from people we care about is difficult, we choose to still believe that the work God is doing in this time is going to be worth it. We choose to engage with Holy Spirit in a more intimate way than we ever have before. We can partner with him in our individual families, our marriages, our relationships with our children and roommates and set the example of how to love and be loved the way Jesus demonstrated in his life and ministry.

We trust Jesus. Our horse sessions may be temporarily suspended, but our ministry is not. Join us in this season and press into the Lord. Trust Him with us.
